If you installed node-red using the -g option. To start node red on Windows go to a command prompt and type: node-red
I recommend you copy the command from the page and paste it into your command prompt. The procedure for download and using it are here. However Raspberry pi provide an install script which can be used for installing and upgrading node-red on the pi and I recommend using it. You can check the versions of npm,node and node-red using: npm -v Note: npm install failed on my pi and I had to use this command first: sudo apt-get install -y build-essential This you can do using: sudo apt-get update You may need to upgrade node-red which you can do by doing an install using npm but you will need to install npm first. Node red is already installed on Raspberry pi but npm (node package manager) isn’t.
Using the -g option adds the node-red command to your path. Then you can Install node red on Windows and Linux (including raspberry pi) using:
Installing Node on Linux Using a Package Manager. On successful installation, it will print out the respective versions for same.Node-Red is a node application and before you Install node red you will need to first install node. Verify successful installation by checking. and node and npm commands will be available via command line. After installation, you will have Node and NPM installed on your machine. Follow the instructions given installer to complete the installation. Check for successful installationĪfter successful download of the file, click to run the installer for same. Refer to my previous tip for installation using NVM. Please check out last section of tip to verify the installation Installation via NVM module The downloaded file will be named node-v-.msi. This will start down downloading Node installer for mac. Go to Download page on Node.js and click on Windows Installer box. Please check out last section of tip to verify the installation For Windows I recommend using brew because it always keeps latest version of node available and updating same just running brew update node. If you using Homebrew, then installing the node is breeze with just following command. Please check out last section of tip to verify the installation Via Homebrew The downloaded file will be named node-v.pkg. 
Go to Download page on Node.js and click on Macintosh Installer box.
